Srinagar, Sept 16 (KNO): Mirwaiz–e–Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq extended heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the blessed birth of the Paighambar Aakhir-uz-Zamaan Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam). Mirwaiz, who has been under house arrest since September 02 and is restricted by authorities even from participating in religious, and social functions, paid rich tributes to the noble personality of the Messenger of Mercy (PBUH), which every Muslim should emulate. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Mirwaiz referred to the Prophet (PBUH) as the true saviour of humanity and its greatest benefactor. He said the blessed birth of the Prophet (PBUH) gave new life and direction to humanity, and his life-giving and thought-provoking teachings transformed human life for all times . He urged Muslims to sincerely commit to following the exemplary life of the Prophet (PBUH) so that humanity, as well as the nation and community, can overcome the severe crises of all kinds being faced by Muslims both globally and at local levels. Meanwhile, Mirwaiz expressed surprise and deplored the J&K administration's decision regarding the official holiday for Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) by shifting it from September 17 to September 16. . As Milad is on Tuesday the 17th , state holiday should have been given on that day . This action shows the callous attitude of the authorities towards the Muslim community . It has caused hurt to the religious sentiments of Muslims in Kashmir. Mirwaiz said it is most unfortunate those governing us today are ignorant about our religious and cultural traditions and have little interest in understanding it ,or showing respect to it—(KNO)
